Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, Stillness. The five Rhythms in sequence form a Wave, the natural progressive structure of both the dance and of much natural movement, from the movement of the seas to the sonic patterns of soundwaves. One wave is followed by another wave and then another, all similar in form, yet each different every time. In this way the meditation of dancing becomes a cyclical practice, and regular practice over time cultivates awareness of self and the whole.
We dance the five rhythms on the dancefloor, and if we are truly studying the practice, we live the five rhythms in the everyday.
